A Little further away you can visit White Sands Missile Range, National solar Observatory, and Three Rivers Petroglyph site, along with Valley of Fire State Park. Within a 20 minute drive you can Visit Cloud Croft, changing the elevation from 4200 to 9000 feet and ranging approximately 20 degrees in temperature difference. (Colder) Bring your passport and a little over an hour away you can visit the border town of Juarez Mexico, a world of difference a short drive away. The Inn of the Mountain Gods is just 45 minutes away if you like gambling. Or spend an afternoon in Old Mesilla, with wine tasting and Billy the Kid stage coach stop, now a great Mexican restaurant (LA Posta) with all the flavor of the southwest. The square dating back to the 1800’s with flare. While you are there take look at the Double Eagle restaurant, beautiful and a great place to eat.

When your day is done come back have a drink or just relax at the pool.

Alamogordo, New Mexico is a city with a population was 35,600 +. Alamogordo is a Spanish

word meaning "fat cottonwood". Holloman AirForce Base and White Sands Missile Range are two

major military bases near Alamogordo. The White Sands International Film Festival is held

in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Two amateur theatrical groups are in Alamgordo, the Alamogordo Music Theatre has two musical

productions each year at the Flickinger Center for Performing Arts and at the NMSU-A Theatre

on the Hill has one performance a year at the New Mexico State University at Alamogordo.

Visit the White Sands International Film Festival. Enjoy a week long interactive showcase of narrative and documentary films from around the world. These films feature and support the work of New Mexican Filmmakers. White Sands International Film Festival was started by David William Gibbons Donn Finn, Sam Smiley.

Earth Day Fair is the last Saturday in April at Alameda Park Zoo. There is a butterfly release, a science fair,fun for the children local health agencies give out information

Otero County Fair is every year in August at the County Fairgrounds in Alamogordo. There is a rodeo, animal judging, food and carnival rides.
On Labor Day Weekend Cottonwood Arts and Crafts Festival. It is a showplace crafts, music and entertainment

In September is the White Sands Balloon Invitational. Hot air balloons launch from the float over the Tularosa Basin.

Late September is Oktoberfest and hosted by the German Air Force at Holloman Air Force Base. Everyone is invited, and there are shuttle buses run between Alamogordo and the base.

New Mexico Museum of Space History incorporates the International Space Hall of Fame and Ham the Astrochimp is buried here.
